CHURCH COMMITTEES


There are many ways to love God and love others by serving your local congregation.  Here are just a few of the ways in which you can do so.  If you are interested in being a part of any of these groups, please contact Pastor Emily or the committee chairperson.



Church Administrative Council
Chair: Hope Lenhart
Description: The Church Council (also called Administrative Council or Administrative Board) is the executive agency of the charge conference.  At least once per year all members of the congregation are invited to be part of a decision - making forum known as the charge conference.  In between gatherings of the charge conference, the Church Council is given the authority to vote on matters pertaining to the ministry of the congregation.  According to the
Church Council Guidelines – 2012, “The work of the church council is to envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate your congregation’s ministry and mission.”


Finance
Chair: Rose Ann Myers
Description: According to the Finance Guidelines – 2012, “The ministry of the committee on finance is to nurture the financial vitality of the congregation.  ”The Finance Committee, then, is responsible for encouraging stewardship, coordinating fundraisers, and proposing an annual budget for approval by the charge conference.  Administrative tasks and record - keeping are also a part of the work of the Finance Committee.  Those who are interested in helping to best allocate the church’s financial resources are invited to serve on the committee.


Trustees
Chair: Gary Weber
Description: The Board of Trustees is responsible of the care of all real property owned by the local church.  They are to annually review the church’s property, insurance, buildings, and
equipment.  Furthermore, they are the group which grants permission for outside groups to use the building.  The trustees administer all bequests made to the local church, re
ceive and administer all trusts, and invest all trust funds.  Finally, the board ensures accessibility of the church’s buildings, grounds, and facilities.


Staff/Pastor - Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC)
Chair: Lisa Spencer
Description: The primary focus of the SPPRC is to build strong relationships among the
congregation, pastor, and staff.  The committee also maintains a relationship between the
congregation and the district superintendent.  The SPPRC oversees the work of all hired staff people and works with the pastor and staff to grow effectiveness in ministry.
