"Why The Auction is Important"
At the recent Annual Meeting of the Upper New York Conference (covering most of New York State), the budget for 2017 was discussed.
Unfortunately some important items had to be deleted or reduced due to
lack of anticipated revenues.  Some of those being college ministries, including the Chaplain at Syracuse University, and some camping programs.  How sad that S.U., started as a Methodist College, will ha
ve no Methodist chaplain. It is equally sad that camping programs for our youth may be reduced.  Why?
The UNY Conference depends on the Ministry Shares that each Methodist Church is assessed each year.  Many churches have paid 100%, our church being one, however some churches can only pay a portion or even nothing, as they are struggling to keep going.  For 23 years we have had an annual auction.  The proceeds have enabled us to pay our end of year
bills, including Ministry Shares.  That is why a successful auction is so important.  This year's auction will be Saturday, August 20th.  The Finance Committee decided to try an earlier date for the auction this year.
We invite you to support our efforts either by donating something to offer at the auction (if you need ideas, ask a committee member), coming to bid and buy (things you can't live without!), buying from the bake
sale table, enjoying a pulled pork lunch, or all of the above.
We appreciate your support and  sincerely thank you in advance.
